DrayTek VigorAP 918R

The VigorAP 918R takes DrayTek's business wireless outdoors. It is a dual-band 802.11ac Wave 2 access point and range extender designed for outdoor environments — beer gardens, terraces, marinas, school grounds and anywhere else guests or devices need coverage beyond the building walls.

As part of a DrayTek Mesh, one AP acts as the mesh root and up to eight units in total form a single wireless network, so outdoor areas can be covered without trenching cable across the site. It pairs naturally with an indoor mesh partner such as the VigorAP 912C and a Vigor router such as the Vigor 2865 at the head of the network.

Frequently asked questions

Can it really live outside?

Yes — the 918R is designed specifically for outdoor environments. The box includes a ground cable and screws plus pipe clamps for pole mounting.

Do I need a controller?

No. It runs standalone if you wish, or can be centrally managed through VigorACS, VigorConnect or the AP management built into Vigor routers.

How does it join my indoor network?

Either wired over Ethernet (a 3 m cable is supplied) or wirelessly as part of a DrayTek Mesh with indoor VigorAP models — one root AP plus up to eight units in total.

What is in the box?

The access point, two antennas, a 3 m Ethernet cable, ground cable and screws, two pipe clamps and a quick start guide.
