Grandstream GHP621 Compact Hotel Phone

The Grandstream GHP621 is the six-key hotel phone in black. It takes the same guest-proof idea as the GHP611 — ten labelled speed dial keys, no screen, no menus — and doubles the programmable keys from three to six, which is what a property with more services than reception and housekeeping actually needs.

Audio is the other reason to choose it. It carries the full-band Opus codec and a jitter-resilience algorithm that tolerates up to 30% packet loss without the call breaking up — useful in a building where the network was never designed around voice.

Powered over Ethernet — one cable to the room, no adapter for a guest to unplug.

GHP611 or GHP621?

Count the services you want on a key. Three programmable keys is enough for reception, housekeeping and room service; beyond that — spa, restaurant, concierge, taxi — the GHP621's six keys stop you compromising. The GHP621 also has the better codec support.

What does 30% packet loss tolerance mean in practice?

On a congested or poorly configured network, a normal phone starts dropping syllables. This one keeps the call intelligible while the network misbehaves. It is not a licence to ignore the network, but it buys you a lot of room.

What is the difference between the GHP621 and the GHP620?

Colour. Black and white respectively; everything else is identical.

Does it need a power adapter?

No, not if the room has PoE — that is the usual install. If the room has no PoE, use the Wi-Fi model or add an adapter.

How do I label the keys?

A printed paper insert under a clear cover. Print your own service names, in more than one language if the property needs it.
