Grandstream GRP2612W Carrier-Grade IP Phone

The Grandstream GRP2612W is the Wi-Fi member of the GRP2612 family. Same two-line carrier-grade desk phone, same zero-touch deployment — but it joins the network wirelessly, which is the whole reason to choose it.

That matters wherever a network cable is the expensive part of the job: a listed building, a shop floor with no trunking, a temporary office, a desk that moves every few months, a home worker whose router is in another room. The handset arrives, joins the wireless network and comes up configured, with no data drop and no electrician.

Everything else is the standard GRP2612: two SIP accounts, four multi-purpose keys extended to 16 virtual keys, HD audio with wideband codecs, and GDMS for managing a fleet remotely.

Frequently asked questions

How good does the Wi-Fi need to be?

Better than for a laptop. Voice is unforgiving about packet loss and hand-over, so the phone wants a strong, steady signal at the desk rather than one that merely connects. If the desks are at the edge of coverage, an extra access point is cheaper than a fleet of complaints — send us a plan and we will look at it.

Can I still plug it into a cable?

Yes. It has two 10/100 Ethernet ports, so it can be wired if a drop appears later. If you know the desk is cabled, the GRP2612P takes power from the network too and is the tidier choice.

Does it take power over the network?

Wi-Fi carries no power, so this model uses its supply at the desk. Where PoE is available, the GRP2612P is the model that uses it.

Is it different to use from the wired model?

No. Same keys, same menus, same provisioning. A mixed fleet of wired and wireless GRP2612 handsets behaves identically to the user and to whoever manages them.

Can it be shipped straight to a home worker?

Yes — that is one of its best uses. With zero-touch provisioning the phone comes up configured on their own Wi-Fi; the user enters the wireless password and nothing else.
