TP-Link EAP655-Wall is a compact AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 wall-plate access point

The EAP655-Wall is a compact AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 wall-plate access point built for hotels, apartments, dormitories and multi-room offices. Dual-band speeds of up to 2.976 Gbps give each room reliable in-room wireless, while four Gigabit Ethernet ports — including PoE pass-through — wire in the TV, desk phone and anything else that prefers a cable.

It installs into a standard wall junction box and powers over 802.3af/at PoE, so one Ethernet run from a switch such as the Omada SG2016P serves the whole room. Omada SDN integration adds centralised cloud management, seamless roaming, WPA3 and guest networks — add an OC200 controller and a floor of rooms is one dashboard. The single-port EAP650-Wall is the lighter-touch alternative.

Frequently asked questions

How is it powered?

Over the Ethernet uplink with standard 802.3af or 802.3at PoE — no power socket needed in the room. The pass-through port can then feed a compatible PoE device downstream.

Will it fit UK back boxes?

It is designed for standard wall junction boxes and ships with fixing screws — installation is a straightforward swap onto the existing Ethernet outlet.

Does it need an Omada controller?

No — it runs standalone. Multi-room properties normally add a controller for centralised configuration, monitoring and seamless roaming across every room.

EAP655-Wall or EAP615-Wall?

Both are four-port wall plates; the EAP655-Wall is AX3000 while the EAP615-Wall is AX1800. Pick the 655 where per-room throughput matters, the 615 where budget leads.
