TP-Link
SG2008TP-Link Omada SG2008 Non PoE Smart Switch
The TP-Link Omada SG2008 is an eight-port Gigabit smart switch for the edge of an Omada network — meeting rooms, retail counters, small offices — where you want proper VLANs, QoS and central management without paying for PoE output you will not use. Handily, one port is a PD port, so the switch itself can be powered over Ethernet from an upstream PoE switch, avoiding a mains socket altogether.
Management is flexible: adopt it into Omada SDN for centralised cloud management via the web or the Omada app, or run it standalone via web UI, CLI, SNMP and RMON. Static routing keeps internal traffic efficient, and VLAN, ACL, QoS and IGMP Snooping cover the everyday smart-switch feature set. The fanless metal case sits silently on a desk or wall.
Pair it with an Omada ER605 router at the gateway, or step up to the PoE-equipped SG2210P if you also need to power access points and phones.
Key features
- Eight Gigabit RJ45 ports including one PD port for PoE-powered installation.
- Omada SDN integration — centralised cloud management via web or app.
- Standalone management too — web, CLI, SNMP and RMON.
- Static routing routes internal traffic for higher efficiency.
- VLAN, ACL, QoS and IGMP Snooping for segmentation, security and smooth video/voice.
- Fanless, durable metal casing — silent, desktop or wall mounted.
Works with
- TP-Link Omada ER605 — wired VPN router for the gateway
- TP-Link Omada SG2210P — the PoE sibling with SFP slots
- TP-Link Omada OC200 — hardware controller for the Omada estate
- All switches
- All networking
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an Omada controller?
No — the SG2008 works standalone via its web UI, CLI, SNMP or RMON. Add an OC200/OC300 or software controller when you want single-pane cloud management across switches, APs and routers.
What is the PD port for?
It lets the switch itself be powered over Ethernet from an upstream PoE switch — useful where there is no convenient mains socket, such as a wall-mounted install.
Does it supply PoE to other devices?
No — it is a non-PoE switch on the output side. If you need to power APs, cameras or phones, choose the SG2210P or another Omada PoE model.
Rack or desktop?
Desktop or wall — it is a compact fanless unit designed to live quietly in offices rather than comms racks.
