Grandstream GRP2604P Carrier-Grade IP Phone

The Grandstream GRP2604P is the GRP2603P with a busy-lamp field bolted on and PoE built in. It keeps the three lines, six SIP accounts, 2.7-inch backlit display and Gigabit ports, then adds ten dedicated BLF keys down the side so one person can see who is free, who is on a call, and transfer to them with a single press.

That addition changes who the phone is for. Reception desks, dispatchers, practice managers and small-team supervisors spend the day moving calls to named people, and a physical key with a lit LED is faster and far less error-prone than scrolling a directory while somebody waits on the line.

Ten keys is the ceiling, not a starting point. This range takes no expansion module — if the person answering the phone needs to watch more than ten colleagues, look at the GRP2615 or GRP2616, which accept a GBX20 sidecar. Below ten, the 2604P is much the cheaper answer.

Frequently asked questions

Does it come with a power supply?

No — it is powered over Ethernet, which is the difference between this and the plain GRP2604. If the switch port does not supply PoE, add an injector or order the GRP2604 instead.

Can I add an expansion module for more BLF keys?

No. Ten is what this phone has. For more monitored extensions, move up to the GRP2615 or GRP2616, which take a GBX20 expansion module.

How is it different from the GRP2603P?

The ten BLF keys and the swappable faceplate. Lines, accounts, display, ports and PoE are identical. Buy the 2604P for people who transfer calls to named colleagues; buy the 2603P for everyone else.

What do the BLF keys actually show?

The state of the extension each key is programmed to: idle, ringing or on a call. Pressing the key transfers or calls that person directly, which is what makes it quicker than a directory lookup.

Can the key labels be changed?

Yes — the faceplate is swappable, so labels can be reprinted when someone joins or leaves. That is worth knowing before you commit to a fixed layout.

Do I need the Gigabit ports?

Only if a computer shares the drop — and on a reception desk it usually does. Voice itself never needs more than 10/100.
