The Grandstream GVC3220 is the boardroom endpoint in the GVC range: 4K Ultra HD video from an 8 MP sensor behind a wide-angle lens with 12× optical zoom and motorised pan-tilt, a built-in MCU that hosts 5-way 1080p conferences locally, Android 9.0, wireless screen sharing, dual Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, and a wireless microphone in the package.

The optical zoom is what separates a boardroom camera from a huddle camera. Digital zoom crops pixels away; 12× optical zoom moves glass, so the person at the far end of a six-metre table arrives in the frame at full detail. If the room is long, this is the specification that decides the purchase.

The local MCU is the other quiet advantage: the unit itself can host a five-way 1080p meeting between your sites, with no external bridge and no per-meeting service cost. For a business with several offices on SIP, the boardroom becomes the bridge.

Frequently asked questions

Optical or digital zoom — why does it matter?

Digital zoom crops the image and throws pixels away; optical zoom moves the lens and keeps them. At the far end of a long boardroom table, that is the difference between a face and a smudge.

What does the built-in MCU actually do?

It lets this unit host a five-way 1080p video conference itself — your other sites dial in, no external bridge and no per-meeting cost. For internal multi-site meetings it replaces a service subscription.

Can it run Teams or Zoom?

It runs Android 9.0 and the mainstream conferencing apps install on it. It is not a certified Teams or Zoom Room device, so behaviour follows the Android app — excellent flexibility, worth knowing if the boardroom must have the certified experience of one platform.

What comes in the box for audio?

A wireless microphone is included, so the pickup sits on the table where people speak rather than at the screen. For an exceptionally long table, a GMD1208 adds more.

Does it need a PC or codec in the room?

No — processing is in the unit. Screen, power, network (or Wi-Fi) and the microphone are the install.
