The Grandstream GWN7803P is a twenty-four-port Gigabit Layer 2+ managed switch with PoE+ on every port, a 360 W total budget and four SFP uplinks. It is the standard floor switch for a site that runs its phones, access points and cameras over the network cable.

360 watts is a comfortable budget at this size — 15 W per port with all twenty-four occupied, which suits a floor of desk phones with several access points among them. Four fibre uplinks give room to aggregate to the core and still keep a redundant path.

The management is what separates it from an unmanaged 24-port switch. VLANs to keep guest Wi-Fi away from the office network, QoS so a large file transfer does not break a call, and per-port statistics so a saturated link can be found rather than guessed at. GWN.Cloud and GWN Manager are both free, with no licence to renew.

Frequently asked questions

Can all twenty-four ports draw 30 W?

No. 30 W is the per-port maximum; 360 W is the total. Twenty-four devices at full PoE+ would need 720 W. Add up the actual wattages.

Will it power a PoE++ device?

No. This is 802.3af/at up to 30 W. For 802.3bt devices such as PTZ cameras or Wi-Fi 7 access points, the Pro series supplies 60 W per port.

What does Layer 2+ give me?

Advanced VLANs, advanced QoS for prioritising voice and video, and IGMP snooping so multicast does not flood the network. Routing between VLANs belongs to a router or a Layer 3 switch.

Do I need the Layer 3 version instead?

Only if VLANs on this switch need to route to each other with enough traffic to notice the round trip through the router. Otherwise Layer 2+ is the right tier and costs less.

Are the SFP ports 1G or 10G?

This model carries four Gigabit SFP ports. For 10-Gigabit uplinks, look at the GWN7803PL Pro or the Layer 3 range.

Does the management cost anything?

No. GWN.Cloud and GWN Manager are both free, and the switch's own web interface works without either.
