The Grandstream GWN7802P is a sixteen-port Gigabit Layer 2+ managed switch with PoE+ on every port, a 240 W total budget and four SFP uplinks.

Sixteen powered ports is the size most small and medium offices actually need: a dozen desk phones, two access points, a camera and still a port or two spare. Four fibre uplinks is generous for a switch this size, and useful when the cabinet is at the far end of a building from the core.

240 watts across sixteen ports is 15 W each with every port in use. That is a good match for phones and standard access points. Sixteen devices at the full 30 W would need 480 W, so plan by watts rather than by port count — it is the mistake that turns up on installation day.

Frequently asked questions

Can all sixteen ports draw 30 W?

No. 30 W is the per-port maximum; 240 W is the total. Sixteen devices at full PoE+ would need 480 W. Add up the actual wattages.

Will it power a PoE++ device?

No. This is 802.3af/at up to 30 W. For 802.3bt devices such as PTZ cameras or Wi-Fi 7 access points, the GWN7802P Pro supplies 60 W per port.

What does Layer 2+ give me?

Advanced VLANs for traffic segmentation, advanced QoS for prioritising voice, and IGMP snooping so multicast does not flood the network. Routing between VLANs belongs to a router or a Layer 3 switch.

Are the SFP ports 1G or 10G?

This model carries four Gigabit SFP ports. For 10-Gigabit uplinks, look at the Pro or Layer 3 ranges, which use SFP+.

Does the management cost anything?

No. GWN.Cloud and GWN Manager are both free, and the switch's own web interface works without either.

Are SFP modules included?

No. Buy them in pairs — both ends of a fibre run must be the same type and speed.
