Grandstream GWN7802P Pro 16-Port PoE Network Switch with 2 SFP+

The Grandstream GWN7802P Pro is a sixteen-port Gigabit switch from the GWN7800 Pro range: PoE++ to IEEE 802.3bt at up to 60 W per port, a 250 W total budget, two 10-Gigabit SFP+ uplinks and Layer 2++ management.

The 60 W per port is what separates the Pro models from the ordinary ones. Pan-tilt-zoom cameras, heaters in outdoor camera housings, Wi-Fi 7 access points and video door stations all ask for more than the 30 W a PoE+ switch can give, and on a standard switch each of those becomes an injector, a socket and another thing to go wrong.

250 watts across sixteen ports is the constraint to plan around. Four devices at 60 W already accounts for almost all of it. This is a switch for a handful of demanding devices plus a lot of ordinary ones — not for sixteen hungry ones. Write out the device list with a wattage against each before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Can every port deliver 60 W?

No. 60 W is the per-port maximum; 250 W is the total. Four devices at full PoE++ draw will use most of the budget — the rest of the ports then have to be modest loads.

What actually needs PoE++?

PTZ cameras, cameras with heaters or wipers, Wi-Fi 7 access points, some video door stations and large-screen intercoms. Desk phones and standard access points do not.

Will it power ordinary PoE devices?

Yes. PoE++ switches are backward compatible — 802.3af and 802.3at devices negotiate for what they need and take no more.

How is it different from the plain GWN7802P?

Power and uplinks. The Pro is 802.3bt at 60 W per port with two 10-Gigabit SFP+ ports; the standard model is 802.3at at 30 W with four Gigabit SFP ports and a 240 W budget.

What does Layer 2++ mean here?

Advanced VLANs for traffic segmentation, advanced QoS for prioritising voice and video, and IGMP snooping so multicast does not flood the network. Routing between VLANs still belongs to a router or a Layer 3 switch.

Are SFP+ modules included?

No. Buy them in pairs — both ends of a fibre run must be the same type and speed.
