The Grandstream GWN7806PH Pro is the largest PoE switch in the GWN7800 Pro range: forty-eight Gigabit ports with IEEE 802.3bt PoE++ at up to 60 W each, a 720 W total budget, six 10-Gigabit SFP+ uplinks and Layer 2++ management.

720 watts across forty-eight ports is a genuinely generous budget — an average of 15 W per port with every one occupied, or a dozen PoE++ devices with plenty left for phones. It is the switch you specify when a floor has cameras, access points and handsets all coming back to the same cabinet and nobody wants to think about injectors again.

Check the PL variant before you commit. The GWN7806PL Pro is the same forty-eight-port switch at 802.3at, 30 W per port and 400 W total, for noticeably less. If nothing on the floor needs more than 30 W and the total is under 400 W, the PL does the identical job. The PH earns its price only when something genuinely needs 802.3bt or the total draw is high.

Frequently asked questions

PH or PL — which do I need?

PH if any device needs more than 30 W, or if the total draw exceeds 400 W. PL otherwise, and it costs less. The ports, uplinks and management are identical.

Can all forty-eight ports deliver 60 W?

No. 60 W is the per-port maximum; 720 W is the total. Twelve devices at full PoE++ would consume the entire budget. Plan by watts.

What actually needs PoE++?

PTZ cameras, cameras with heaters or wipers, Wi-Fi 7 access points, some video door stations and large-screen intercoms. Phones and standard access points do not.

Why six SFP+ ports?

Because a forty-eight-port switch generates enough traffic to need more than one uplink. Use two aggregated to the core, keep one for a redundant path, and the rest are spare.

What does Layer 2++ mean here?

Advanced VLANs, advanced QoS for prioritising voice and video, and IGMP snooping so multicast does not flood the network. Inter-VLAN routing still belongs to a router or a Layer 3 switch.

Are SFP+ modules included?

No. Buy them in pairs — both ends of a fibre run must be the same type and speed.
