Grandstream GWN7806PL Pro 48-Port PoE Network Switch with 6 SFP+

The Grandstream GWN7806PL Pro is a forty-eight-port Gigabit PoE+ switch from the GWN7800 Pro range: IEEE 802.3at at up to 30 W per port, a 400 W total budget, six 10-Gigabit SFP+ uplinks and Layer 2++ management.

For most floors this is the right forty-eight-port switch. Desk phones, standard cameras and ordinary access points all sit comfortably inside 30 W, and 400 W across forty-eight ports covers a realistic mix without anyone reaching for an injector.

The letters matter. PL is 802.3at — 30 W per port, 400 W total. PH is 802.3bt — 60 W per port, 720 W total, and costs more. If nothing on the floor needs more than 30 W, the PL is the same switch for less money. Buy the PH only when a PTZ camera, a heated housing or a Wi-Fi 7 access point genuinely asks for 802.3bt.

Frequently asked questions

PL or PH — which do I need?

PL unless something needs more than 30 W or the total draw exceeds 400 W. The ports, uplinks and management are identical; only the power stage and the price differ.

Can all forty-eight ports deliver 30 W?

No. 30 W is the per-port maximum; 400 W is the total. That is a realistic budget for a floor of phones and access points, not for forty-eight PoE+ devices at full draw.

Will it power a PTZ camera?

Only if the camera is within 30 W. Heated housings and larger PTZ units usually are not — those need the PH or an injector.

Why six SFP+ ports?

Because a forty-eight-port switch generates enough traffic to need more than one uplink. Use two aggregated to the core, keep one for a redundant path, and the rest are spare.

What does Layer 2++ mean here?

Advanced VLANs, advanced QoS for prioritising voice and video, and IGMP snooping so multicast does not flood the network. Inter-VLAN routing still belongs to a router or a Layer 3 switch.

Are SFP+ modules included?

No. Buy them in pairs — both ends of a fibre run must be the same type and speed.
