Grandstream GXP1782 Business HD IP Phone

The Grandstream GXP1782 is a mid-range business desk phone with eight lines, four SIP accounts, eight dual-colour line keys and 32 digitally programmable BLF and speed-dial keys on a 200 × 80 backlit LCD, with dual Gigabit ports.

Thirty-two monitored extensions without an expansion module is the reason this phone exists. A coordinator who needs to see who is free across a department would otherwise need a phone with a sidecar attached — more desk space, more cost, more to go wrong. Here they are digital keys paged through on the screen instead.

How can it have 32 BLF keys?

They are digital rather than physical — programmed and paged through on the display instead of taking up buttons. That is what avoids needing an expansion module bolted to the side.

Eight lines but four SIP accounts — what is the difference?

The accounts are the numbers registered to the platform; the lines are the call appearances you can have running at once. Four numbers across eight simultaneous calls suits a busy coordinator well.

Why Gigabit rather than 10/100?

Because a computer usually shares the desk's network drop, and a 10/100 phone caps that computer at 100 Mbps. Users notice that far more than they notice the phone.

Should I buy this or a current GRP model?
