Grandstream GWN7052F Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router

The Grandstream GWN7052F is the fibre-port version of the GWN7052 dual-band Wi-Fi 5 router. Everything else is the same — 802.11ac 2×2 MU-MIMO at up to 1.27 Gbps for as many as 100 devices, a dual-core 880 MHz processor with 256 MB of RAM, auto-sensing Gigabit ports and VPN — with a Gigabit SFP port added for a fibre WAN connection.

That port is the whole reason this variant exists, and it is worth being clear about when it helps. If the internet arrives at the building as fibre you terminate yourself — a leased line, a metro Ethernet tail, a site-to-site link between your own buildings — the fibre goes straight into the router with the right SFP module, and one box comes out of the chain.

Standard UK full-fibre broadband does not need it. FTTP is delivered to an ONT on the wall, and you take a copper Ethernet cable from that. In that case the plain GWN7052 is the same router for less money. Check what actually arrives at the wall before choosing the F.

Frequently asked questions

Do I actually need the SFP port?

Only if fibre reaches the router itself. Standard UK full-fibre broadband ends at an ONT and hands you copper Ethernet — in that case buy the plain GWN7052 and save the difference.

Is an SFP module included?

No. The module has to match the fibre type and the equipment at the other end, so it is bought separately — tell us what is at the far end and we will match it.

Can it replace my ISP router?

On most connections, yes. Some ISPs authenticate in ways that need their own equipment in bridge mode, so check the line type before ordering a batch.

What VPN does it support?

It supports VPN for connecting remote workers and branch offices back to a corporate network. Tell us which VPN type your head office runs and we will confirm compatibility.

Is Wi-Fi 5 enough?

For a small office, comfortably. Move to the Wi-Fi 6 GWN7062 range for higher device density or to match an estate standard.

Can I manage a fleet of them?

Yes. GWN.Cloud and GWN Manager both handle routers alongside access points and switches, and both are free.
