Grandstream GWN7811P 8-Port Gigabit Enterprise Layer 3 Managed PoE Network Switch

The Grandstream GWN7811P is the PoE version of the GWN7811: eight Gigabit ports supplying IEEE 802.3af/at at up to 30 W each on a 120 W budget, two 10-Gigabit SFP+ uplinks, and full Layer 3 management with routing in hardware.

It is a lot of switch in a small box. A branch office or a floor cabinet gets its own inter-VLAN routing, its own 10-Gigabit path to the core, and power for its phones, cameras and access points — without the round trip to a central router that usually becomes the bottleneck as a network grows.

120 watts across eight ports is the plan-around number. That is comfortable for eight desk phones and a couple of cameras, or three PoE+ access points with room to spare. It is not eight PoE+ devices at full 30 W draw, which would need 240 W. Write the wattages down before you patch.

Frequently asked questions

Can all eight ports draw 30 W?

No. 30 W is the per-port maximum; 120 W is the total. Eight devices at full PoE+ would need 240 W. Add up the actual wattages of the devices.

Will it power a PoE++ device?

No. This is 802.3af/at up to 30 W. For 802.3bt devices such as PTZ cameras or Wi-Fi 7 access points, look at the GWN7821P or a Pro-series switch.

Do I actually need Layer 3?

Only if you have VLANs that need to talk to each other and enough traffic between them to notice the round trip through the router. Otherwise the Layer 2 Lite GWN7711P does the same job for less.

Why two 10G uplinks on eight ports?

So the switch is never the slow link under a fast core, and so you can run a second path for redundancy. Aggregated, they give 20 Gbps back to the core.

Is there a CLI?

Yes, as well as the web interface — which matters if your team scripts configuration or works from templates.

Are SFP+ modules included?

No. Buy them in pairs — both ends of a fibre run must be the same type and speed.
