The Grandstream WP826 is the full-shift Wi-Fi cordless handset: a 3000mAh battery giving 12 hours of talk time and 240 hours of standby, on integrated dual-band Wi-Fi 6. It runs on the building's Wi-Fi rather than DECT — no base station, no five-handset limit.

Twelve hours of talk time is the specification that matters. A handset that dies at three in the afternoon gets left on a desk, and then nobody can be reached. This one covers a shift with room to spare.

It takes 3 SIP accounts on 3 lines, supports 4-way local audio conferencing, carries the Opus HD voice codec, and has roaming support with an advanced antenna design so calls survive the walk between access points.

Frequently asked questions

Wi-Fi cordless or DECT?

DECT brings its own radio and works in buildings with poor Wi-Fi, but needs a base station and tops out at five handsets per base. Wi-Fi uses coverage you already have and has no handset limit, but is only as good as that coverage. If the Wi-Fi is weak where people walk, buy DECT.

Does 12 hours really mean a full shift?

Twelve hours is talk time, so continuous conversation. Real use is a mix of talking and standby, which goes further. For a double shift or a handset shared between shifts, add a spare battery or a multi-bay charger.

Will calls survive walking around the building?

Yes, if the access points are configured for roaming and coverage overlaps properly. The handset supports roaming; the network has to cooperate. Test it on the route people actually walk before buying a fleet.

WP826 or WP822?

Battery and radio. This gives 12 hours against 8, Wi-Fi 6 against Wi-Fi 5, and 3 SIP accounts against 2. For a full shift in a busy building it is worth the difference; for light use the WP822 costs less.

Should the phones share the guest Wi-Fi?

No. Put them on their own SSID or VLAN so guest traffic cannot interfere with them.

How many handsets can I have?

As many as your phone system supports — there is no base station imposing a limit. The practical constraint is the access points and how many devices each is carrying.
