Grandstream GRP2602W Carrier-Grade IP Phone + WiFi

The Grandstream GRP2602W is the two-line essential desk phone with dual-band Wi-Fi built in. It exists for positions that need a proper desk phone but cannot have a data cable, and it is the better of the two Wi-Fi models in this family because it can use the 5 GHz band as well as 2.4 GHz.

Four SIP accounts sit on two dual-colour line keys, so one handset can carry a direct dial, a departmental group, an out-of-hours number and a second provider. A backlit graphical LCD, four context-sensitive soft keys, a full-duplex HD speakerphone and 5-way conferencing cover the working day, and GDMS zero-touch provisioning makes a fleet of them manageable centrally.

Put it on 5 GHz if you can. 2.4 GHz is the band everything else in the building is already sitting in; 5 GHz is quieter and carries voice far more predictably at desk distances. That single choice is the difference between a Wi-Fi desk phone that behaves like a wired one and one that occasionally clips a word.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Wi-Fi really dual-band?

Yes — 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. That is the main reason to choose it over the GRP2601W, which is 2.4 GHz only. Note that the Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) support applies to hardware revision 5.0 and above; earlier units still connect happily to any modern access point.

Does it support PoE?

No. PoE is the GRP2602P and GRP2602G. This is the Wi-Fi variant and takes mains power — rarely a problem, since a desk without a data cable almost always has a plug socket.

Does it still have Ethernet ports?

Yes, two 10/100 ports. Wi-Fi is an addition here, not a substitute for the sockets, so a position that gets cabled later keeps the same handset.

Four accounts on two keys — how does that work?

All four register at once; the two keys are how you switch between and watch the active ones. In practice most people use two heavily and keep the others for overflow numbers.

Will call quality match a wired phone?

On 5 GHz with decent coverage at the desk, close enough that users will not notice. On a saturated 2.4 GHz network they will — as clipped syllables rather than dropped calls. Choose the band deliberately.

Can it be provisioned centrally?

Yes, once it is on the network. GDMS and TR-069 both work with encrypted provisioning and secure boot; the Wi-Fi credentials are the one thing that must reach the phone first.
