Grandstream GWN7672 Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Access Point

The Grandstream GWN7672 is a tri-band Wi-Fi 7 access point rated BE11000: up to 11 Gbps of aggregate wireless throughput, 10 Gbps of aggregate wired across two 5-Gigabit PoE+ ports, and up to 384 concurrent clients on 2×2×2:2 MU-MIMO with enhanced DL/UL OFDMA.

The third band is the reason to buy it. 6 GHz is new, wide and almost empty — no legacy devices, no neighbouring networks that have been there for fifteen years. A Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7 client moved onto 6 GHz gets the kind of clean air that 2.4 GHz has not offered since about 2010.

6 GHz does not travel as far. Higher frequency means shorter reach and less patience with walls, so a tri-band deployment usually needs access points closer together than a dual-band one — not the same plan with better boxes in it. Budget for the extra units, not just the extra band.

Frequently asked questions

Will my current laptops use the 6 GHz band?

Only if they are Wi-Fi 6E or Wi-Fi 7. Everything older stays on 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz — which is still a win, because the new devices move off those bands and leave more room for the old ones.

Does 6 GHz cover the same area as 5 GHz?

No, less. Higher frequencies lose more to distance and to walls. Expect to place tri-band access points closer together than dual-band ones if you want the 6 GHz band to be usable everywhere.

Do I need 5G switching?

To get the benefit, yes. The ports negotiate down to Gigabit and the AP will work, but the wired side then becomes the bottleneck for everything the radios can do.

Will one client see 11 Gbps?

No. That is all three radios' theoretical peaks added together. It describes the access point's total capacity, not any one connection.

How is it different from the GWN7674?

Scale. The 7674 has 4×4:4 radios on 5 and 6 GHz, up to 21 Gbps, 768 clients and a 10 Gigabit port. The 7672 is the mid-tier tri-band unit — the right choice unless the room is genuinely enormous or genuinely packed.

What power does it need?

PoE+. A tri-band access point draws considerably more than a dual-band one, so check the switch's total power budget rather than its port count.
