Grandstream GWN7674 High-Performance Tri-Band Wi-Fi 7 Access Point

The Grandstream GWN7674 is the top of the indoor Wi-Fi 7 range: tri-band, 4×4:4 MU-MIMO on both 5 GHz and 6 GHz, 2×2:2 on 2.4 GHz, up to 21 Gbps of aggregate wireless throughput and up to 768 concurrent clients, fed by a 10 Gigabit PoE++ port alongside a 2.5 Gigabit one.

Everything about this unit is sized for places where a normal access point gives up: lecture theatres, conference halls, stadium concourses, trading floors. Four spatial streams on the two fast bands means it can serve several high-end clients at the same instant rather than in sequence, and 12.5 Gbps of wired throughput means the radio is not immediately throttled by the cable.

This is a specify-the-whole-chain product. A 10 Gigabit PoE++ port needs a 10 Gigabit PoE++ switch, and the power draw is in a different class from an ordinary AP. If the budget will not stretch to the switching, a pair of GWN7672s will usually serve the same room better than one GWN7674 on a Gigabit link.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a 10 Gigabit switch?

To get what you paid for, yes — and a PoE++ one at that. On Gigabit switching this access point cannot deliver more than a gigabit to the network however capable the radios are.

Is 768 clients realistic?

It is the association limit, and in a hall of phones it is achievable. In a hall of laptops on video it is not. Plan by what the devices are doing, not by how many there are.

Will one client see 21 Gbps?

No. That is all three radios' theoretical peaks added together — a capacity figure, not a connection speed. No client device on the market comes close.

One of these or two GWN7672s?

Two smaller access points usually beat one large one, because they put the radio closer to the people. Choose the 7674 when the ceiling height, the cabling or the room shape means you only get one position.

What does PoE++ mean in practice?

802.3bt power — well above ordinary PoE+. An older PoE+ switch will not run this access point at full capability, so check the switch before ordering.

Do older devices benefit?

Indirectly. Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6 clients cannot use MLO or the 6 GHz band, but they get more air time on 2.4 and 5 GHz once the newer devices move up.
