Grandstream GWN7721P 10-Port PoE Layer 2 Lite Managed 2.5 Gigabit Switch

The Grandstream GWN7721P is the PoE version of the GWN7721: eight 2.5-Gigabit copper ports, all supplying PoE or PoE+ at up to 30 W each, plus two 10-Gigabit SFP+ uplinks and Layer 2 Lite management.

It is the natural switch for a modern access point deployment. Multi-gigabit access points want more than a Gigabit port and more power than basic PoE, and this feeds both from one box — then hands the traffic back to the core on 10-Gigabit fibre rather than choking on a Gigabit uplink.

The 130 W budget is the number that decides your plan. Eight ports at 30 W would be 240 W; the switch has 130. That is fine for four or five substantial access points, or eight desk phones and a couple of cameras — but it is not eight PoE+ devices at full draw. Add up the watts of what you intend to plug in before you order.

Frequently asked questions

Can all eight ports draw 30 W at once?

No. 30 W is the per-port maximum; 130 W is the total the switch can supply. Eight devices at full PoE+ draw would need 240 W. Count the watts of the actual devices, not the ports.

Will it power a PoE++ access point?

No. This is PoE and PoE+ up to 30 W. An 802.3bt access point such as the GWN7674 needs a PoE++ switch or its own injector.

What does Layer 2 Lite give me?

VLANs, port configuration, link aggregation and statistics through a web interface. Routing between VLANs stays with your router or a Layer 3 switch.

Do I need two 10G uplinks?

Not usually both — but two lets you run a redundant path to the core, or aggregate them for 20 Gbps. Worth more than the modules cost.

Are SFP+ modules included?

No. Buy them in pairs — both ends of a fibre run must be the same type and speed.

Can I manage it without the cloud?

Yes. Its own web interface, or GWN Manager on your own server. GDMS Networking in the cloud is a third option, not a requirement.
