Two things separate it from the 7-inch GXV3370 beyond the extra inch. The panel is IPS, which holds its colour and contrast when you look at it from the side rather than head-on — and a desk phone is almost always viewed at an angle. And the storage is doubled to 16 GB, which matters if the phone is going to hold apps and contacts for years rather than months.

Buy it as a video phone, not as an Android tablet. The screen is big and the interface is genuinely good, but it is not a certified Teams or Zoom room device. What does IPS actually give me?

Colour and contrast that hold up when the screen is viewed from an angle — which is how a desk phone is almost always seen. On a phone this size it is a noticeable difference from the 7-inch model.

Is 8 inches too big for a desk?

For a busy desk with a monitor and a keyboard, sometimes yes. The GXV3370 at 7 inches is the more common choice; take the 8-inch where the screen is genuinely being used.

Can it see the door camera?
