The Grandstream WP825 is the ruggedised handset in the WP cordless Wi-Fi range — IP67 rated, drop-safe to 2.5 metres, resistant to cleaning chemicals and finished in an anti-microbial casing. It runs on the site's own Wi-Fi rather than on a DECT base station, so coverage follows the wireless network you already have.

A 2000 mAh battery gives 8 hours of talk time and around 200 hours on standby, which is what makes it a genuine shift phone rather than a desk phone that happens to be portable. Two SIP accounts on two line keys, a 2.4-inch colour display, HD audio on both handset and speakerphone, Bluetooth, a 3.5 mm headset jack and a push-to-talk button cover the working day.

Its coverage is your Wi-Fi coverage — and that is a stricter test than laptops apply. A phone in a moving hand needs seamless roaming between access points; a laptop on a desk does not. Frequently asked questions

Does it need a base station?

No — that is the difference from the DP DECT range. It registers over Wi-Fi to your SIP platform, so there is no base station to buy and no separate radio system to maintain. The trade-off is that the Wi-Fi has to be good enough.

What does IP67 actually cover?

Dust-tight, and protected against temporary immersion in water. In practice that means a hosed-down kitchen or a phone dropped in a sink, not continuous submersion.

Can it be cleaned with disinfectant?

Yes — the casing is chemical-resistant and anti-microbial, which is why it appears in food production and healthcare. Follow your normal wipe-down procedure rather than soaking it.

Will it roam between access points on a call?

It is designed to, but roaming quality depends on the wireless network as much as the handset. Overlapping coverage and consistent settings across access points matter more here than any handset feature.

How long does the battery really last?

8 hours of talk time and around 200 hours on standby. A shift of intermittent calls sits comfortably inside that; continuous talking for a full day does not.

How is it different from the WP822?
